At Alive Health Care and Support Services Ltd, we believe good care should also be responsible care. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is part of the way we work as a Scottish care at home and support provider.

Through our Alive Green Leap Initiative, we aim to reduce waste, use resources carefully and make practical choices that support a cleaner and healthier environment. We know that care at home services involve travel, equipment, supplies and daily operational activity. We therefore take a realistic approach, focusing on small, consistent actions that can make a positive difference over time.

Our Approach

We aim to reduce our environmental impact by planning care visits carefully, reducing unnecessary travel where possible, using digital communication and records where appropriate, recycling office waste, limiting paper use and choosing responsible suppliers where we can.

We also encourage our staff to be mindful of energy use, waste reduction and safe disposal of materials during their work. Where personal protective equipment or infection prevention supplies are required, we use them responsibly and in line with safety requirements.

Environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility. Our team will support the Alive Green Leap Initiative through day-to-day actions, training, supervision and regular review. Through the Alive Green Leap Initiative, we are committed to enhancing our recycling efforts and reducing waste across all our operations. We aim to ensure that materials such as paper, plastics, and electronics are efficiently segregated and recycled, minimising our contribution to landfills.

Lowering Emissions through Smart Commuting

We advocate for reduced carbon emissions by promoting carpooling and supporting the use of public transport among our employees. The initiative includes providing incentives like travel vouchers to encourage environmentally friendly commuting methods. For those living close to work, we encourage walking or cycling, offering facilities such as bike racks and showers to support these green choices.

Energy Efficiency

Our initiative emphasises reducing energy consumption within our premises by adopting energy-efficient lighting and promoting the use of natural daylight. Investing in energy-efficient appliances and conducting regular energy audits will also play a crucial role in diminishing our energy footprint.
